Villa borghese, via del corso, piazza Venezia, museums

Hi!!

Wow I'm tired. We walked around for 12 hours again today and did and saw soooo much!

Started off at villa borghese gardens. We went in the galleria for 2 hours to see sculptures and paintings. It was so beautiful, the building had gorgeous frescos all over the walls and roof. Lots of Bernini sculptures (he built Trevi fountain and heaps more in Rome). Gorgeous!! We hired bikes after this and rode around the gardens in the sunshine.

Next we had a look in piazza del popolo, where apparently emperor neros ghost haunts the area!! We walked down via del corso which is one of the main streets. Did a little bit of shopping and looked at the Spanish steps and Trevi again (had gelati at San crispino again dad - YUM). Then went to the presidential palace and palazzo quirinale to have a look around. Randomly we stumbled across the changing of the guard! So we were treated to the soldiers singing the national anthem and a marching band playing. Tried to convince mum I planned it, but didn't work haha!!

Next we went to piazza Venezia, a crazy huge roundabout. The Victoria Emmanuel II monument is there. It is absolutely colossal!! Caught the lift up the top for a great view. It was starting to cloud over and the dark clouds contrasting with sunshine looked really cool. Finally went to the capitoline museums and saw more sculptures and paintings.

Had some takeaway pizza on the way back (so tired and starving!!) and now relaxing at the hotel.

I could honestly spend a month here and still not see everything!

Changing countries tomorrow - Vatican city ;)

Love to all
Claire
