Acropolis and surrounds

Hello :)

Today we first of all had a look at the temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arch. Hard to believe there are so many ruins in the middle of such a busy city!!! We next went to the Acropolis, having a look at the Parthenon, erectheion, temple of Athena Nike, the south slope and north slope of the acropolis. I had one of those days where I would look at everything and read everything, but it wasn't until about 30 minutes later that it hit me and I thought 'wow - I've been to the acropolis!!' haha. Still hard to believe we are seeing all these incredible places.

It was another beautiful sunny day. I was almost too hot in my thermals (almost!!). Am loving the weather. Hardly any tourists but still picture perfect photos of everything!!!

After the acropolis we next headed to the Panathenaic Stadium. This is the stadium that held the first modern Olympics in 1896. We did an Audio tour which was really interesting! We saw lots of past Olympic torches including the one from Sydney 2000.

Afterwards we caught the train and went to the archaeological museum. There was a lot of beautiful old jewellery which I loved! We bought a delicious roll for lunch on the way.

After the museum we went shopping in the 'Ermou' street near our hotel. Late night shopping here on a Monday, which was weird!! But I'm not complaining haha. I bought a top, a jacket and a skirt. Yay! :)

Just had dinner in a local tavern. I had moussaka. Delicious but I am SO full!

Lots of love
Claire
