Arrived Rome. Went to soccer!

Hi all!

Today we caught the 630am train to Naples then an 812am to Rome. We went to the hotel but our room wasn't ready yet so left our bags and set off to try and find soccer tickets! Reception gave us an address to go to but it was closed so we asked tourist information who told us about a lazio fan shop to go to. We went there and the man spoke no English but kept saying 'Tickets - piazza Mancini' so we found a bus that went from the station straight to there and caught it.

Once we got here we were in luck! We found another fan shop where they only let a certain number of people in at a time. We had to take a number like at the deli! We went in and got tickets. You have to show your passport and they print your name on your ticket!

So we walked to the stadium and were super early but found our seats and waited for the match to start. Mum was pretty skeptical about the game itself but was impressed by the olympic stadium! The first half was pretty boring. I can accept its a very skillful game but I'm an AFL girl through and through (don't worry pa - I just went for the atmosphere!!). I enjoyed it but mum was nearly asleep on my shoulder! The second half was a lot better. Lazio scored a goal in the 67th minute and the crowd went nuts! They went nuts a lot actually, even when nothing was happening! There were giant flags, flares and crazy yelling people everywhere! You should have heard them when it popped up on the scoreboard that their arch rivals Roma were losing! More excited than when they scored a goal I think!! I guess I can understand, that's like me finding out Carlton or St Kilda are losing by 100 points, I'd cheer too ;)

We had takeaway tonight. I had pasta and mum had curry. It's been raining and thundering here but meant to clear up for Tuesday and Wednesday. Hopefully it's ok!

Love to all
Claire
