Hi all!
Today we had breakfast and walked to the port to get the boat to the Isle of Capri. It was a bit rough at sea today so the half hour journey made us feel a little bit sick but we stood out in the fresh air so were ok. We were sooo lucky with the weather! You will think its summer from my photos! It was sunny and absolutely stunning.
We walked our way up the hill from the port to the centre of the town of Capri (Piazza Umberto). People told us not to come to Capri in winter and that nothing would be open but we were pleased to find the area busy with locals and shops open! We walked through lots of cute little alleyways and saw houses with decorative house numbers (so pretty - we bought one for our house!). Had a bit of a look around and took in the views. Then the sky went a bit grey and we caught a small bus up the hill to the town of anacapri. Nearly as scary as Turkish bus rides! A tiny bus filled with 20 people zooming around tight corners on huge cliff faces! But we had a look around in anacapri at the Casa di Rossa (a fort), a church with beautiful majolica tiled floors and villa San Michele. It started raining here but cleared up fairly fast. Had so,e gat views from up here too. We went back to Capri on the bus and bought a delicious panini each! Yummmm. Walked back down the hill, walked along the marina and then caught a ferry back. It was quite rough but we both fell asleep!
This afternoon we walked around the historic quarter in sorrento and then the marina there too. It started hailing a bit but then cleared up! We bought some limoncello liqueur to drink (they are famous for it here!).
Found some boots I like but $300 Aussie so think I'll keep looking in Rome, Florence and Milan!
Had a gelato already today but heading out soonish for takeaway for dinner. We also found some rittersport chocolate cheap here which is awesome because we missed out on stocking up in Germany because of boxing day shop closures! It's my favourite chocolate!
Love to all
Claire
