Brick Lane and the Boom Cha Cha Boogie

Hey everybody!

So last night we went to Brick Lane which is of course famous for its Indian food! It's also known as a place where you barter or haggle for the price of your meal - something I am useless at! I could really have used my brother here last night, he was fab at it in Malaysia in 2010. But alas Brendon and I didn't turn out to be too bad!! It turned out all we had to do was feign a lack of interest in the person out front of a restaurant, and immediately he said "I'll give you 25% off and the first drink free!". SOLD! So we had a yummy dinner with two mains, some naan bread and some rice. I had a mango lassi. Oh Indian - how I had missed you! So we ticked a lot of stuff off my London list this weekend, that was another!

We then walked into Angel to see 'Jurassic World'. Student price was £13 ($26) I could have cried. Luckily the movie was great and it was nice seeing a movie with a close friend so it was ok!!!

This morning I got up and got ready for work. Was running a little behind so literally had to run for the train. Made it by 30 seconds - phew!! Today I mainly spent as a TA, supporting students in small groups and one on one. Had a really good day. We've started a new topic which is all about a book written by an Aussie author called 'Dancing the Boom Cha Cha Boogie'. It's a children's book with made up animals but it's all an analogy for the author's experiences as a refugee in Australia. It was so interesting and the kids loved it!! We did lots of associated activities with it and I made each student a folder to keep their work for it in. After lunch we paired up with the other year 2 class and did singing and dancing related to the book - so much fun! As you know if you read about me in year 1 last week I actually really enjoy singing, I'm just not confident to do it in front of people! But I don't care in front of the kids, they love it!! One girl came up to me afterwards and said I "have a lovely singing voice". Naw!!

Had a great day and now I'm on my way back. This time I literally made the train by 5 seconds. Gotta stop cutting it so fine!! Back is a bit sore as I tripped over at school so running (in sandals!) didn't help but oh well. Brendon has been lovely and picked up some groceries for me as the supermarket closed by the time we got to it last night - I should have visitors more often hey!!!

Love to all
Claire
