Tate Modern

Hi all!

No work again today unfortunately which is annoying, making me feel lazy even though I tried. But I made the day count again. 

Started off applying for six teaching jobs at home which took me about three hours. Smashed them out, hopefully I hear something back soon! 

After all that and getting a few more things done, I rewarded myself by watching 'The Flash'. It's the season two premiere after a 4-5 month gap since the end of the last. I remember thinking that next time it was on it would be October and that seemed really far away, and here we are!!

I headed out after this and caught the bus for 15 minutes to the Thames. Then I walked over the Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern. It's a modern art museum that is free to enter, and is housed in an old power station by the river. The first time I saw it at the start of 2011 I thought it was a crematorium, because to be honest it's a really depressing and creepy looking building!

I'm not much into modern art but it wasn't too bad! It was fairly weird, but some pieces were kinda cool. There was one really weird room that looked like it belonged on the set of '50 Shades of Grey', and a few rooms of paintings I'm fairly sure I could have done myself. 

My favourite room was the pop art section. We studied Lichtenstein and Warhol at school and it was cool seeing some of their works :) I love the boldness of the colours. The best painting in there was a maths one where the artist had put the numbers 0 to 9 in the painting. My least favourite was a room which had what literally looked like a pile of poo in it, and also a room with huge white canvases covered in what looked like blood!!

I spent about 40 minutes in there which was longer than I anticipated! I read one particular blurb that described how a painting had fallen onto the floor and that was why it looked the way it did!!

Today it felt proper wintery. I didn't take a coat or umbrella (I will learn fast from this!) and it rained and was cold and foggy. Sooooooo cold! Ah well, winter is coming. 

Now I'm back in the flat and I'm headed off to Jamie's tonight. Might be going to a fitness class or the gym tonight and then an early night before work back at the primary school the next two days :)
