Had a great day today. Last night I relaxed and had a fairly early night, but just before I got ready for bed my housemate Kate came into my room. She asked what I was doing the next evening (Thursday) as her and her friend had a spare ticket to the 'Graham Norton' show! Just two days prior I had applied for tickets so I couldn't believe my luck :) more on that later on in the post...
Today school went really well. I helped in year 4 foxes in the morning and middle sessions. We did maths and literacy and I read with lots of children to help meet their targets before the half term break (end of next week).
In the afternoon I took them to the assembly hall and we joined the rest of key stage 2 (years 3-6) for a debate about equality. Some children had been chosen from each year level and they had prepared speeches. I couldn't believe the ages of some of the kids speaking, one girl in year 3 (7 turning 8) spoke as if she was in high school - amazing!!!
This afternoon after school I headed to Waterloo and waited under the clock. It reminded me of the hot, sunny afternoon that I met my parents here back in July (which I quickly realised was now over three months ago - crazy!). I met up with Kelly, a girl I went to high school with back home and her boyfriend Darrell. They're over here for a wedding.
Tonight I went to ITV studios with Kate and her friends Ana and Karen. We watched the recording of the 'Graham Norton Show'. It was so much fun! We were seated kind of far away but it was fine, I could see everything! Rod Stewart performed his new song 'Love Is' (not a fan but it sounded kind of Celtic which is cool). Mum tells me it'll be on channel 10 in two weeks. We were so lucky with the line up - Dawn French, Colin Farrell, Chris O'Dowd (the guy from 'Bridesmaids') and Rachel Weisz. I've been to live shows before, but it was interesting seeing one that wasn't! We filmed things out of order and they clip it later on. One of the red chair stories was absolutely hilarious but I won't spoil it - you'll have to watch!!! Laughed so much.
Now on the bus home with Kate, and back at the primary school tmro.
Love to all
Claire
