Firstly - happy 5 year Collingwood premiership anniversary! October 2, 2010. What a day!! Best day ever.
Jamie ended up coming over last night and bringing me beautiful flowers and some dinner :) we ate our dinner, ate the gingerbread I bought in Germany and watched some of France vs Canada. France won.
Had a great day today! Feeling a bit weird seeing everyone on Facebook enjoying the public holiday and sunshine at home, but it's been sunny all day here too :)
I was in helping year 4 in the morning and middle sessions today. We had assembly, then maths and then literacy where the children had to write a persuasive letter explaining whether a new zoo should be opened or not. I worked with one boy who can be quite cheeky at times but he worked brilliantly and his letter was great! I found a hilarious video on Facebook last night called 'Human Zoo' where some people dressed up as animals and went around treating people like zoo animals - gawking at them through glass, throwing food at them, jumping on them etc. It was so funny I cried all three times I watched and the kids loved it!!
This afternoon I covered year 3 while their teacher did some testing with them. I was so excited because these year 3s were the year 2 kingfishers from last year! I came in the room and they all said "OH MY GOD IT'S YOU!" Haha. So cute. We had golden time (play time on a Friday afternoon if they've been good). Spent 30 minutes setting up a 'Guess Who' game and then playing it. One of the girls gave me a beautiful watercolour painting she made which is going straight on my wall with my other lovely cards from students this year!!
So happy working back at the same school again. The two year 4 teachers told me after school they think I'm amazing and they're really happy with me teaching their kids - hooray!!
Now to go home, eat and sleep. Up at 3.30am to catch an Uber with Jamie to Fulham to watch the afl grand final at the pub with his footy club. I'm going to try so hard not to be homesick but it's the first I haven't been to since 2014 and picturing all my family there isn't nice! But next year it's on my birthday and I'll be back :) at least I get to watch with Jamie, Stephen, Alisha, Shannon and Jess :) !!
Funny thing is no one knows anything about it over here unless they're Australian. Mentioned it to a few people at work and all said "what's grand final day?" Living at home I used to think the world revolved around Melbourne, but it doesn't! I guess everyone thinks that about where they live.
GO EAGLES!!!!!!!! (But as always I'll be wearing my pies jumper with pride!)
Love to all
Claire

PS: Go wallabies too! We play England 5am Sunday Melbourne time. If we win we are in the quarter finals!!
PPS: Got home and made chicken teriyaki stirfry for dinner. I was so proud of how yummy it was that I had to add a picture of it!
