Hey everyone!
Last night I got to Waterloo and waited...and waited. Turned out due to the tube strike that mum and dad were nearly an hour late as they had the walk due to every bus being packed!! But I was wandering through wasting time when all of a sudden a voice said "Oi - hello!!" And then I was being hugged...it was dad!!! And there they were :) and before we knew it we were reunited and it was like we had never been apart.
We had a really great evening. We met Stephen (a family friend) for dinner. Walked to a frozen yoghurt place I went to last week along Southbank. Then had a drink in the sun and then walked north of the river and had a pub meal.
Getting home was tricky. I got mum and dad on a bus but apparently it terminated two stops later. I waited for a bus and when it came it was packed, so I walked. The traffic was so bad due to the strike that I literally walked alongside the bus for a good 20-30 minutes. It took me about an hour to walk home and I finally got to bed.
Today I woke up and was so excited for the day ahead! Last day of work before my summer holidays and sports day! The Waterloo and city line was still closed but I handled it like a true local - automatically figure out an alternative route in my head and set off.
Firstly at school the kingfishers (the class I've spent the most time in) had their assembly in which they all recited lines and acted things out about their London topic. They did fantastically! Then we got ready to go for sports day.
We walked the twenty minutes to the local athletics track and the day began. Basically consisted of parents following around the class while we did different races (eg egg and spoon, sack race). Was 26 and quite hot, the kids had fun but a few played up. Most parents picked up their kids to take home but we then stayed with the ones who weren't. We went back to school and watched a movie and drew some pictures. Some of them made me cards to say goodbye - aw!!!
I've had such a great two months at school. Even though technically I'm secondary trained I've really enjoyed primary and I've learned so much. I've become much more confident and it's been fantastic. I've been asked back for a week in September so I'll be back!!!
Went for a couple of drinks with other teachers at the pub near school after work and now I'm off to meet mum and dad at old street station to show them my area and flat and go out for dinner :)
Love to all
Claire
