Hi all!
What a crazy few days. Have hardly had a chance to sit down!! Here's what's happened since Friday evening....
I got home late Friday and watched the second quarter of our game. It appears after that I got tired and crashed because next thing I knew I woke up in the outfit I had worn Friday night on top of my duvet with my laptop next to me paused on half time!! Though it was only 6.30 on a Saturday I couldn't get back to sleep as I was so curious about the football so I watched the second half. Disappointed we lost and wasted so many chances but we are definitely up and coming! We are going places with so many promising young guys. A shame some of our more experienced players couldn't kick straight though...!!! I was really proud of how we honoured Phil Walsh's memory after the game though.
At about 9am Ashley arrived to stay at mine for two nights. She's been in Scotland this week and then sets off travelling for a few months and had two nights here in between so I offered for her to crash. We chilled, did some grocery shopping and then headed out for Jamie's footy.
We got the train to Bank, Waterloo and then Motspur Park. They were giving away cider tastings at Waterloo which was a nice bonus! And we needed it - the train was so hot!
Got to Motspur Park and watched Jamie play his first game back in a year after injury. It was 26 degrees and sunny all day so Ash, me and Jess (from work) lay about in the sun enjoying some footy. Ashlee was tired after her overnight bus and Jess is from Sydney so didn't know the rules of AFL but we still had fun! Had a bit of a picnic too. It was funny as Jamie's team are the Wimbledon Hawks and they played the West London wildcats. Hawks vs Cats hey! A classic at home.
Headed off afterwards and went to Jess' to get ready. Then we went to Wandsworth Town and met Alisha for her fiancée Shannon's 30th birthday bash at the Grand Union. Had a really great night with good company chatting, drinking and eating delicious cake (thanks Jess). I'm so lucky to have found such lovely people to spend time with over here. A really great group :) Small world too - Shannon grew up in the same suburb I was born in. Weird!!
We ended up back at Alisha and Shannon's and then Ashlee and I got the bus and tube home. I was so tired I kept falling asleep on the tube haha. I looked like a ragdoll.
Got home and went straight to bed. I woke up at 3am to people having a domestic in the street - crazy! Slept through after that and woke up at 11! ELEVEN! I never sleep in! Must've needed it.
We quickly got ready and then got the train to Gloucester road to meet Jess and her friends Kate and Shannon from Sydney. We had lunch at the Queen's Arms. And what did we have on a lovely London Sunday? Sunday roast of course! It was amazing. Had a great lunch then headed to Hyde Park.
Here we ticked something else off my London list - hiring Boris bikes! What is a Boris bike? A bike for public hire installed by the daggy looking mayor of London - Boris Johnson. You put your credit card in and hire them. So the five of us had a lovely time riding through Hyde Park on our bikes in the sunshine! It rained earlier which was why we cancelled our original plan for a picnic, but the sun made an appearance just in time for our ride!!
We saw Speakers' Corner, lots of people and some squirrels too. A rude man yelled at us for being on the wrong path, but we just laughed at how awful he was!
Ended up having an ice cream and watching some random dog show called 'Hyde Bark' (which Jack from 'New Tricks' randomly showed up to host!) before Ashlee and I headed back to mine. I had a guy viewing my flat to possibly rent my room over the summer (fingers crossed please!) and then Ashlee went out for dinner with a friend. Jamie came over for a little bit and now I'm just getting myself organised for the week! A busy week with mum and dad coming over (yay!) and then getting ready to head away for seven weeks over the summer. Can't wait!!
Love to all
Claire
