From England to Ireland

Hello all!

What a hectic few days of moving about. On Friday morning mum and dad drove Brendon and I to Kendal train station and saw us off. They had a few more days in the Lake District after we left. We caught the train via Oxenholme and Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston. When we got here I immediately noticed it was quite a bit warmer in London!!

I got the tube to Moorgate and walked to Jamie's work where I got his keys. I then headed out to Stratford and met up with Brendon again. Put some washing on and then did some shopping at Westfield with him. I spent the rest of the evening with Jamie while Brendon went on a pub crawl.

The next morning I met Brendon at Liverpool St Station and we stored our suitcases. We then made our way to Bounds Green tube station and walked to a reserve where we watched Jamie's footbal (afl!). We had a great afternoon watching Jamie's game, two other teams and then the 1s of Jamie's club. Jamie's team unfortunately lost by 3 points but they did really well to come back and make it such a close finish. Brendon's friend from his Topdeck tour came along and so did some of my friends I met in Greece, so we had fun picnicking and chatting whilst watching the games. And to cap it all off it was sunny and lovely!!!

Then Brendon and I went back to Liverpool Street, got our bags and got the train to Bishop's Stortford. For those who have read consistently throughout this year you may remember I went to BS in March shortly after arriving in England. My friend Jo and her Australian boyfriend Blake live out there. Blake had to work but Brendon and I had dinner with Jo at Wetherspoons (cheap!) and then crashed at her and Blake's flat. Jo had scones with clotted cream and strawberries she had picked herself for dessert - YUM!

This morning we had an early wake up of about 5.45am but Jo lives a 15-20 minute drive from Stansted airport. She drove us there and Brendon and I caught our flight to Dublin. It's so strange being back here because I also came here in March! Seems a long time ago yet simultaneously feels like no time has passed. It's been four months and in four months I'll be home! Strange.

We had a bit of a walk around. Walked through Trinity College (should've seen the queue for the Book Of Kells - glad I did it in March!!!), Grafton Street, St Stephens Green, St Patrick's Cathedral and then I walked Brendon to the Guinness Storehouse. He spent the next few hours here while I walked around (finding places that I hung out with Fiona, Lisa and Jordan who I met here last time and remembering the fun we had!) and then headed back to the hostel. Strange thing about travelling alone so much - you get so used to it that when you're around other people for a while you start to want time alone!! I realised I hadn't had a moment to myself in over a week so I enjoyed some time to shower, do some washing and watch some football (bummer about the pies but enjoyed Port vs Adelaide's finish).

Brendon came back and we went out for dinner. Took him to my favourite pub from last time - the Stag's Head - but for some reason they stopped serving food at 6. So we went to another pub and each had a pint of Guinness and a steak and Guinness pie. It was delicious!

Now we are having an early night before our tour starts tmro. I'll try and post every day but unsure what our accommodation will be like. Should be ok though :) we do a week long circuit around Ireland seeing all the main places. Off to Northern Ireland tmro!!!

Love to all
Claire
