What a fab week!

Hi all!

I've had such a great day today, which makes up for all the rain and everything yesterday.

The first bus sailed past again today, so when the second one opened only its back doors to let people off and not the front, I did something rebellious and hopped on the back. Over it - I wasn't going to be late again!!

Today I was back in the other year 2 class. This morning we had assembly. Assembly always makes me nervous because if anything happens with the students (misbehaving, not listening to me etc) it's on display for the whole school (students, parents, teachers) to see. But I got through unscathed! The class sat quietly, and the boy in the class on the autism spectrum behaved exceptionally. I sat down next to him and whispered to him about the assembly to keep him occupied. He was great!!! And then the class sat up so well they were the first class picked to line up - go year 2s!!

In the middle session we made storyboards about 'Little Red Riding Hood'. I worked with the same student and team taught with Vicki. Again he did really well! We came up with a story called 'Little Gold Bell' and he did some great drawings and again worked super well.

Lunchtime was shortened today which was a little stressful because I had to construct a set of 3D models of various London landmarks as examples to show the kids. I also had some issues to sort out with my pay (which hopefully should now go in tonight - HOW EXCITING!!) and it went so quickly. Vicki introduced the lesson and I spent 1.5 hours keeping the class quiet while they coloured, cut out and constructed their models. It took a lot longer than Vicki had anticipated - I had glue and coloured pencil all over my hands! But the kids seemed to enjoy it and we ended the day with various Big Bens, Eyes, Trafalgar Sq lions and more.

So I've had a great week at school. Tonight I move in to my new flat and get paid (I hope). And to top off the week, Vicki and the head teacher came in to talk to me and I've been booked in by the same school for work in the same two classes Monday - Thursday next week (I go to Iceland on Friday). Amazing! Great confidence booster and it means I'll officially have my first month rent in my bank account - how great is that! Hopefully they'll have me back at various points of the year if they need a supply teacher. Who would have guessed I'm a secondary teacher technically hey! It's a 60-70 minute commute including walking from where I'll be living but that's the average here so it's ok.

Looking forward to an awesome weekend - won't be posting tomorrow as I'm at the rugby all day and tomorrow but I will be the day after!

Love to all
Claire
