Avengers and a footy fix

Hi everyone!!

Firstly - HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY MUM!! And happy Mother's Day to all the mums reading this, but especially to my amazing one :)

I had a really great day yesterday. In the morning I set off fairly early. Ann had the estate agent bringing some people through the house so Milly and I had to make sure we were out of the house.

I set off walking to Wimbledon which took me about an hour. On the way I saw a Mitcham Road! Had a bit of a laugh at that.

Made it to Wimbledon and on the way a few things made me really happy. Ash rang me and I got to talk to her and her parents, was so nice to hear all their voices. And then Ashlee who I met up with last week to go to St Mary's Hospital and Buckingham Palace told me she has booked the same Oktoberfest tour as me! So I've messaged Busabout and asked them to make sure we share a tent. Will be so much fun!!!

Headed to the shopping centre in Wimbledon and got some photos printed. Still expensive but cheaper than the other day. The guy at the counter had a laugh at me because I assumed it was the same at home. Took my receipt to the counter and politely asked how long the photos would take. He gave me a funny look and said they should have already printed as I got the receipt. Went back to the machine and sure enough there they were. Oops! I'll get the hang of it.

Went and got some drinks and snacks for later in the day from Tesco's. Then I headed to the movies. England is so weird. At home everything is so regulated. Here you can BYO at the movies. You can buy alcohol in just the normal cinemas. And the alcohol I bought I bought for the footy later in the day, where you can BYO just to local games. SO WEIRD! Or maybe Australia is weird?? Either way it's different!!

I went and saw 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' which I really enjoyed! Had wanted to see it for a while so went by myself.

Then I got the train to Motspur Park and went to a local footy match. Stephen (family friend - Dad's friend's son) invited me and I had a great afternoon meeting lots of really nice people and watching the Wimbledon Hawks take on the Shoreditch Swans. When I walked into the park and saw the four goalposts my tummy did a flip. It made me so happy to be getting my footy fix! I'm watching our game from this week as I type this. Unfortunately the Wimbledon Hawks who we were barracking for - like Collingwood - didn't have much luck. They lost to a team who hadn't won a game in 3 years by 9 goals. But we still had a good afternoon nonetheless, and enjoyed some ciders and a picnic. Did make me realise though just how much I miss watching my brother and his team play, and of course my pies.

Afterwards we caught the train to Clapham Junction and went to a couple of pubs. At the first one they were playing the replay of North vs Richmond. Had some dinner and a few drinks and enjoyed the company of the girls I had met earlier on in the day. Everyone was really nice!! I felt so under dressed in my K-Mart leggings and top paired with runners, but that's how I dressed for the footy haha. Some of the other girls were wearing the same.

I got the bus most of the way back to Ann's about 12.30 and then walked the rest of the way. The night buses here are really safe and the streets were all really well lit. I avoided the park I usually walk through and instead walked in the middle of the road, keys and phone in hand.

Today I'm just getting some things done for teaching, living etc. My deposit has officially gone through to the girls I'm taking over the room from so I'm excited to move in next Friday!!

Feeling a bit far away today with it being Mum's 50th birthday and Mother's Day but I'll get there :) Little nervous for my first full week of work but I just have to push on and keep settling in.

Love to all
Claire
