Rain rain and more rain!

Hi everyone!

Rain, rain go away, come again another day... It's tipped down all day today here! So annoying.

Headed off to school and was back in Alisha's class. Today was hard for a different reason. Started off with spelling which was fine. Then was PE. But just as the kids changed and we were ready to start it started to rain. And it didn't stop for the whole day - still hasn't!!

So I had to improvise and play Simon says and a couple of other games. Then we had topic and I found myself as an Aussie who's literally not even been in London two weeks teaching a class of six year olds about the boroughs of London. Luckily I turned it around and changed it to "I'm moving to Hackney tomorrow, who can help me find out my neighbouring boroughs?" which went down fairly well. They were quite loud during this though so unfortunately between that and handwriting I had to yell quite a bit and ended up demanding 10 minutes of silence. I felt so mean but they were doing my head in.

Break, lunch and play break were all wet breaks due to the rain so I had to come up with stuff for them to do then while simultaneously trying to correct things and prepare for each session. But we got there! They worked quite well at the end of the day and overall considering they were cooped up inside all day they did well.

Funny thing today - had another pants/trousers moment. Someone was teasing Adam about his trousers and I said "guys - his pants are fine leave him alone!". To which the class burst I to hysterical fits of laughter because over here pants means underpants! Oh dear. Oh well, they all had a good laugh at me!!!

This evening I trekked for an hour to Hammersmith for a meeting with Vibe again. I walked along the Thames in the rain and got soaked - no good for my cold!!! Saw lots of people rowing and Fulham FC. They had induction drinks and meetings, met some of the people who'll be setting up work for me. It was good but I'll be so late home now! I'm on the train back to Ann's for some dinner.

I'm so excited for tomorrow. I finally get to move in to the new place and have my own space to keep things until the end of the year - going to be amazing!! Ann's hospitality has been absolutely incredible and I appreciate it so much. I've bought her a bottle of wine and a card to say thank you. I hope I haven't been an annoying house guest!!!

Love to all
Claire
