Hi everyone!
I'm typing this on the plane because by the time we get to the hotel and settle in it'll probably be 9-10pm Thai time (1-2am Melbourne time). Currently it's 10pm in Melbourne and 6pm in Bangkok.
So we checked in and boarded no dramas. I found out very early on that Laura and I will get along VERY well on the trip when we were trying to find our counter to check in, counter D. We could see C and E but nothing in between. At exactly the same moment we turned to each other and said "it's just like platform 9 and 3/4!" (Harry Potter reference) and then both looked at each other bewildered that we had literally had exactly the same thought haha. For those of you who don't know her, Laura is a good friend from high school (who now, like me, goes to Monash). We both share a sense of adventure and a knack of planning our time so well that we fit in more than most people think humanly possible.
The plane ride has been fairly comfortable. We had a bit of turbulence departing Melbourne due to the heat but other than that we've read our guidebooks, listened to music and chatted away the hours.
We have made a bit of a plan for tomorrow. We're going to do a tour of the museum, then visit the amulet market and some temples as well as the grand palace, and end the day with some street food in Chinatown. This is all provided the protests don't interrupt our plans, as at the moment protesters are trying to get the current president to step down and these protests escalated yesterday. But we will be sure to avoid those and the protesters have agreed to leave tourists alone.

PS: I am now in the hotel lobby. Hotel is great, airport transfer got us safely. Not too tired consisting it's 2.30am!!!!
