Hey everyone!
I hope this works. My plan is to upload what we did today, then with photos from yesterday and today. The wifi is going pretty slow though because lots of people are online at once. So if there are no photos you know why!
Last night was heaps of fun with our punch party! After having souvlaki in town which was huge and very cheap, we got the bus back and took our punch down to the lake for our own party. It was heaps of fun! Dave made the punch SO strong though! The night went very quickly because the sun sets at 11pm is Oslo, but even once it does set it's still pretty light! I got to bed about 2am.
Woke up this morning feeling tired and a little hungover but overall good! Had a shower and packed up. We had our brekky and then left on our way to Åndalsnes. We drove for the whole day with a few stops. The scenery was stunning! Everything here is like a postcard.
Our first stop was Lillehammer. We had a very quick stop in the town itself but didn't really get to see all that much. The reason we went to Lillehammer was to go to the bobsled track! Lillehammer hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics and we got to go for a bobsled ride on the Olympic track! For anyone unsure what I mean, it was just like the movie 'Cool Runnings' - we got in a bobsled in teams of four and flew down the track at 100km/h experiencing 3 Gs. They had said anyone with back and/or neck problems wasn't allowed to participate. So naturally me with my three vertebrae out of line due to scoliosis participated fully haha. I never want it to stop me doing anything. I wasn't nervous at all, I was just super excited. The ride was so much fun and so fast! Would be even faster on ice in winter. Hit my head on the side on some of the sharp corners but the helmet did it's job and I feel completely fine!
We had our lunch of a baked potato here and then headed off again. Pretty much all our meals are cooked for us from now on as we are going to such remote places. Our next stop was at the Ringebu Stave Church. Shame that they decided to cover the ENTIRE thing in scaffolding!!!!! So couldn't see any of it. Never mind. The cemetery surrounding it as well as the countryside was beautiful.
We then did a supermarket run so that our cook, Laura, could buy all the supplies we will need and we could buy some snacks. Bought myself 1-2 weeks worth of snacks so I'm set for quite a while now!!
Arrived at the campsite at about 8pm. It's grey, foggy and rainy here. The room I am in is amazing though! Am in a room of 6 with Ilana, Sam, Freya, Chloe and Mel. We have a lounge room, small kitchen, ensuite and lots more room than the last place.
Just had corn on the cob and burgers for dinner and now I've had some chocolate for dessert!
Watching Brazil vs Mexico and then I'll probably have a fairly early night because I'm tired and we have another big day going to Geirangerfjord tomorrow!
Love to all
Claire
