Camp Nou, Montjuïc, Barceloneta, Picasso museum

Hi everyone!

Today we headed to Camp Nou Stadium, which is Barcelona FC's home stadium! I had bought Billy tickets for a stadium self guided tour for his birthday. We got to see the museum including trophies, the press room, change rooms, stands, boxes and walk on a small section of the pitch. It's a huge stadium that can hold up to 120,000 people! I was impressed! Nothing will ever be as good as the MCG though!

Then we went to Montjuïc, a hilltop suburb that was the main area for the 1992 Olympics. We had a look at the national palace, the Olympic area (stadium, basketball centre, gardens etc) then walked up to Montjuïc Castle. Amazing views from here! We wanted to get the cable car down but it's closed at the moment so we walked. We had a look around the suburb of Barceloneta (a bit like docklands) where a random Bollywood movie was being filmed! We had some crepes and a walk around. Then I went to the Picasso museum. Billy's feet were sore so he sat in the foyer for an hour while I looked. It's some feast holiday here today so entry was free - woot! I never realised how many 'normal' paintings Picasso did before he went all zany in the 1910s and painted noses and eyes all over the place. Was interesting! Not actually sure if I like his paintings though haha!!

Tonight we followed the sound of some music from our hotel and stumbled across some music and dancing for the Santa Eulelia holiday that is apparently today! Then we had some paella and sangria in La Rambla. A protest about the unemployment and economic situation here walked past while we were eating!!!

Had another great day!
Love to all,
Claire
