Remembrance Day

Hello everyone!

Well I think the kid of the train just said it right - "LOOK HOW DARK IT IS OUTSIDE!" I left school at 4.20pm today and it's already dark!!

I can now say this on here as it's official - I have secured a two year teaching position at home!! :) So excited!

This morning I got to school and I helped out with year 6 in the morning and middle sessions. They were great and I worked listened to them practicing their assembly for Friday and then worked with a small group designing an advertisement for a Wonka product. They worked so well that I let them listen to the soundtrack while they worked (oompa, loompa, doompety do!). Whilst working they asked me if I'm coming back to the school after I go home. After I said no one girl said "she needs to go back to her kangaroos!!" haha.

We had a whole school assembly at 11am where we all talked about Remembrance Day, what it means and some children showed some work relating to it. We then had two minutes' silence. They always have two over here, not one. Most of the time our "one" minute at the football turns into about 30 seconds. I love they actually time 2 minutes here.

Then we did some maths and I spent the afternoon in year 2 puffins. I hadn't taught them since they were in year one. They were mostly really good. Had to send someone being a bit cheeky out at the start but he was fine after that. We did a grammar activity and then made poppies which I turned into wreaths for the wall. I also talked to them about Remembrance Day and asked what they remembered from assembly.

Now I'm headed to Oxford Circus firstly to meet Shine, the Chinese girl I met in Cornwall in the summer and went walking with. She's come into the city for the day! Then I'm meeting Lou, Emily and Ash for dinner and the Oxford Street lights. It's a little Victorian road trip reunion exactly a year on from the day we drove from Phillip Island to back home.

I'll post all the lights photos tmro :)

Love to all
Claire
