Hey everyone!
Not too much to type today, more just pretty pictures to show you!
Last night I found a cheap place that had a box of pasta and sauce for 4 euros. Ate it in the square and it was delish! Then due to lack of wifi I sat outside and watched 'Downton Abbey' - how cool am I?! Haha. It was good though because I saw it get dark and got to see Bruges by night.
This morning the hostel wifi still wasn't working so I went to my favourite viewpoint and skyped Nan and Pa for about 45 minutes! It was so great to talk to you both for so long! I thought maybe I had one too many nights here but today has been a really chill day out and I've enjoyed it. It was good too because I could show them the scenery behind me and they could hear the bells!
Then I went to the station and got my tickets for tomorrow, then back to the hostel and set off to walk the outer canal circuit. It's a 7km track around the outside of the city! I spent a couple of hours walking the circuit seeing beautiful canals, paths, trees and even some windmills! I even went inside one windmill called Sint Janhuismolen. It's a hollow post mill built in 1770. It was interesting seeing the inside of the windmill and all the contraptions in there. There was also a nice view over the city!
After an hour or so of walking I walked to the city centre and had a banana split waffle. Mmmmm! It was from a little stand in Burg Square run by a guy called John who the walking tour recommended. He cooks them fresh and they're fairly cheap!
I sat in the sun in the main square and ate it. Then headed back to the hostel and got changed. Having some till to chill was great, I again went on the outer canal path and ran from the station to the windmills for about 20-25 minutes. Then I did squats, push-ups, sit-ups and lunges. It felt amazing! I miss my gym classes at home and the endorphins I got from all that was great!
Now I'm back at the hostel chilling out. The internet is back up so I think I'll be watching some Downton tonight hahaha. Will head out for some dinner later on.
Tomorrow I go to Brussels and I'm stopping in Ghent on the way for a few hours. Meeting my friend Troy at Brussels Centraal station about 2pm! Unfortunately due to Travelling I won't be able to watch us play St Kilda. But I'll be thinking of you all at the G and sending positive vibes hopefully for a win!
Love to all
Claire
