Jambo all from right at the bottom of Mt Kilimanjaro!
Last night I slept absolutely horribly. Welcome back to the tent! I think I woke up twice an hour every hour. Never mind!
We have had quite a few long bus journeys on this trip, but today was the biggest test. We had to leave at 5am today and the journey took 13 hours. For the first time, the breeze through the windows was hot as well. It was long and hot, and as a result of being so tired I ended up pulling down a mattress and sleeping on the floor for a while. It was bumpy but it helped!
Luckily though, today was our last massive journey for the trip. I think the longest remaining one we have will be six hours at the end.
We are now staying in Marangu, right at the foothills of Kilimanjaro. It is the tallest mountain in Africa at 5895 m, and one day I hope to come back and climb it!
Not much else to report. If the wifi permits, I'll upload a couple of photos that I didn't get to the other day as well as a few of some quick glimpses we have had of Kili.
Love to all
Claire
