Bye bye Zanzibar

Hello everyone,

We are currently back in the Stone Town hotel lobby, waiting to go and board our ferry back to Dar.

Since I last wrote, we had another couple of chilled out days in Kendwa Beach. We went on a sunset cruise where we had drinks, jumped off the boat into the water, listened to local drummers play cool music and had a great time. At the end we all climbed on the roof and the wind was causing us to rock so much it got a bit scary!!!

Afterwards, we went to a local party. Unfortunately mine and Rob's night was short lived because a coal fell off shisha some of the others were using and landed on my foot. I now have a little burn there. It hurt a lot at the time but is ok now. Another scar to tell another story!

Yesterday we slept in so late we missed breakfast, went swimming, lay by the beach and had a nap. It was much needed! Then we all enjoyed a beach seafood barbecue with beef, chicken, prawns, fish, Moreton bay bug and lobster. It was yummmm!!

This morning we said goodbye to a few of our tour mates and headed back to Stone Town. I have absolutely loved Zanzibar and we feel refreshed! I wouldn't go as far as saying we are "ready" for our tent again for the next six nights, but we are definitely more ready than a few days ago!!

I'll keep posting whenever I can, but please keep in mind that in a few days' time we will be camping in the Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater. Here we will be sharing our campsite with lions and hyenas. I won't have much wifi! (Let's hope that's the least of my worries!)

Love to all
Claire
