Hello everyone,
First of all yesterday I hit 10,000 views on my blog! Amazing! Thank you so much for reading over the last four years, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it.
Our girls' night in last night was good. We watched a movie and are ice cream, and afterwards I was lucky enough to get the PC in the hotel working to catch up on the latest episodes of two of my favourite shows - 'The Flash' and 'Arrow'.
This morning we got up, had breakfast and packed up. As we were about to carry our things down to the lobby Courtney came to our room and said she thought she had more money than what was in her travel wallet. She then realised a credit card was missing. Upon telling Rodrigo and our group hearing, everyone checked and three other girls had $100 US missing like Courtney, and three others said things in their bag had been moved as if their bags had been gone through by someone.
So the next three hours were spent waiting at the hotel while they went and filed police reports. Excuse my language Nan and Pa but the hotel were real assholes about it. They were rude and unhelpful and made those of us who had to wait there feel as if we had done something wrong. Even though they had signs everywhere that they had CCTV they told us they couldn't check the hallway footage. But it's pretty obvious a cleaner (or more than one) has had a field day. I'm just glad I'm so paranoid and lock my case, backpack and small bag whenever we leave the room, as I also had US dollars in my bag. Yesterday afternoon (when their money was stolen) was the first time I've left my small bag in the room, and thankfully I made a last minute decision to lock it inside my case. It had my passport, iPod, camera, phone and wallet in it...
When the girls and Rodrigo returned from the police station they asked the hotel staff to write them a letter staying they had stayed there the last two days and the hotel refused. So I've left a scathing review on Trip Advisor and we are all going to say to G Adventures in our tour reviews not to stay there. If you ever go to Potosi everyone, don't stay at Hotel Gran Libertador!
So the bus journey that should've been 9am-1pm was now 12-4pm and we then arrived in Uyuni. I can't help but feel like the last five or so days of this tour could've been compressed into two or three, there's been a lot of sitting around with not much to do! Never mind.
We arrived Uyuni and it's a very deserted town in the middle of nowhere. It's basically a stop for tourists like us who go to the salt flats!
No photos today because we didn't really do or see much and the wifi is pretty woeful.
No blog for a couple of days now, we are going 4x4-ing in the desert over the salt flats and staying in very basic accommodation! I'll post as soon as possible.
Lots of love to all
Claire
