Hi all!
Last night was lots of fun. We got picked up at 7.30pm by Daryl's friend and driven to his son's house for a BBQ and pool party. The night consisted of endless delicious meats and salads, way too many caipirinhas and lots of dancing. I ended up jumping in the pool in my clothes with Molly!
The not so fun part was getting to bed at 2am and having to wake 1.5 hours later for our 6.15am flight to São Paulo. Oh my god. The hangover was pretty bad but I've had a lot worse (see Warsaw July last year - yuck!). But never mind. We got our flight which took 1.5 hours. We aren't staying in São Paulo but here are some quick facts - it's the biggest city in South America and 25 million people live there, more than the entire population of Australia!! And they once had a traffic jam there that went on for 89km. Don't think I'll be moving to São Paulo any time soon!
We drove for 5-6 hours to Paraty, all of us slept most of the way. I'll give you some more detail about Paraty tomorrow because we a doing a walking tour, but basically it's a cute little beachside town with cobblestones so uneven it actually hurts to walk the streets! It's also STINKING HOT. Think sweat dripping down your skin hot. I'll say it again - bring on London cold. I promise you I won't regret saying that, I'm meant to be in the cold, heat and me do not mix!
Daryl gave us a quick walk around and then Molly, Maria and I enjoyed an Açai (pronounced (a-sai-yee) bowl, which is sorbet made of Açai berries with bananas and honey. Yum and very healthy! We spent the rest of the afternoon meandering around town, looking in shops and taking in the old town. I bought a pair of parrot earrings - Robyn, took a photo as thought you would think they were cool too!
Tonight we are going on a walking tour then going to a nice seafood restaurant for dinner. I think everyone will collapse into bed exhausted after that!
Love to all
Claire
