On board Freedom of the Seas

Hello all from the Freedom of the Seas,

We woke up this morning and had another amazing breakfast. Today as well as eggs, vegetables, yoghurt and fruit, we had some mini pancakes.

We left the guesthouse for a bit to walk around. Unfortunately we ran into an American man who told us he and his family had been beaten up and robbed in an area behind the fort. He seemed genuine, he was quite shaken and had no bags etc on him. We gave him $10 to help him get a taxi, I’ve been robbed before and it’s horrible.

This put a bit of a dampener on our walk, as we had all our valuables with us due to checking out. We decided to sit in the main square and just people watch. This way we were around a lot of people, and we had already seen the town anyway.

We got our bags from the guesthouse and checked out. We caught an Uber to the cruise port and boarded our boat. Royal Caribbean had said not to arrive until after 3.30, but we arrived early and got on with no hassles.

Rob took me on a walk around the boat and we saw the main promenade, the pools, gym, sports area, wave rider (surfing thing). We had a bite to eat and then unpacked in our room before heading downstairs for the evacuation drill.

Afterwards, we had dinner in the main dining room. The food was great!

We are looking forward to a great week on board. No blog until next Sunday (Monday Australian time), but I’ll type a bit each day and post it then to let you know what we get up to. I can’t put any photos up tonight as I can’t use my laptop, so I’ll put them on in a week.

In the meantime, I’m thinking of everyone back home suffering due to the fires, and I’m thinking of my wonderful Pa who is in hospital at the moment. Sending everybody lots and lots of love,
Claire
