La Paz, Bolivia

Hey all!

Not too much to report today. We left our hotel at 6.30am for our bus. We caught a public bus for 2.5 hours to the Peru/Bolivia border. Then the fun and games began. It was much like Cambodia and Russia - confusing, illogical and lengthy. We waited in a huge queue in the sun for an hour to get out of Peru, walked across no man's land and then queued for another hour to get into Bolivia.

After what seemed like an eternity (all of us weren't feeling too flash this morning!) we were back on the bus and on our way. I was a bit annoyed though because the Bolivian immigration man stamped my entrance stamp in the middle of a new page. First world problems - my passport is quickly filling up! Unimpressed Bolivia!!

First impressions of Bolivia - dirty, rubbish everywhere. You can tell it's a bit poorer than Peru. But then we drove for another two hours and arrived in La Paz. Two million people live here. From above it was so beautiful, mountains, glaciers in the distance and endless buildings. Apparently it's one of the seven wonderful cities of the world.

We got to the bus station. It was quite nice, reminded me of European train stations. We then went to our hotel. From here my tour mates went on a one hour walking tour, but Ash and I had to go with Carla to a doctor to get the yellow fever vaccination. I went to the doctor at home and asked which vaccinations I needed. I was told I didn't need the yellow fever injection. But it turns out to get into Brazil I do! So Ash and I had a fun sightseeing tour of the doctors haha! It didn't hurt and was lots cheaper than home so all good!

Afterwards we went with Carla to the restaurant we were having dinner at. Went for a walk around the local area. The others told us the walking tour wasn't that great so we felt a bit better.

Tonight I had pad Thai for dinner that didn't taste like pad Thai, but it was nice! Thus far tonight Rachel and my tummies are behaving themselves, touchwood ! We are having an early night.  Didn't sleep very well last night, and need all the concentration I can muster for tomorrow. Ever heard of the world's most dangerous road? AKA 'Death Road'? We are bike riding it tomorrow! If Hamish and Andy can do it - so can we! But if no post tomorrow you know why ;) Just kidding, apparently only people mucking around fall over the 600m sheer drop.

Speak to you all tomorrow (I will survive!)
Love to all

PS: The first photos are of guinea pig, which I refused to try in Peru (too expensive and just yuck!) but Will had it and let me take a photo.
