Hi all,
I can't believe it has already been over
seven months since I moved back to Australia from the UK - and since I last posted!
This year is going very quickly. I am sitting here typing my first blog
since last November. It's the night before the last day of term two and I
am very excited to go travelling again these school holidays! But
first, a recap of what has happened since I got home...
Over
the Summer I temped at my old work and covered reception. It was a good
way to keep busy, earn some money and see all my old workmates. My
family and I enjoyed Christmas together and a beach holiday to Phillip
Island and before I knew it, it was the end of January and the school
year was starting.
This year I started my first full
time teaching position. As most of you probably know, last year I taught
on and off in London, England. But this year is my first time having my
own classes, and my first proper teaching job. As you can imagine I was
extremely nervous, but after a few days I starting to get into the
swing of things and I'm really enjoying it. I absolutely love my job,
and my classes are all lovely. Some of the kids I teach can be
challenging at times, but deep down they're all lovely kids and I am
really grateful to be their teacher. Obviously sometimes there are not
so great days where a lesson doesn't go well etc. etc., but the good days
and the positive feedback I have received from students, parents and
other teachers more than makes up for it. It's really rewarding and I am absolutely loving it :) I've also really enjoyed going to the footy this year (despite Collingwood's terrible form!), spending time with family and friends and my two footy trips to Wagga (successful) and Sydney and the Blue Mountains (not so successful!).
But as well as loving my job and life back home, I definitely haven't lost my desire to travel or my taste
for adventure. Which is why just four days after I got home from England
I booked Hong Kong for the June/July school holidays (now two days away). I have since
booked the USA for Christmas and New Years, and Bali for next March. So I
am well and truly sticking to my motto of "never stop travelling"! :)
Two days from now, Mum and I will be on a plane on our way to Hong
Kong. And I am so excited to once again experience new things, try new
foods, learn about a different culture and write my blog! Stay tuned!
Love to all
Claire
